Rotating Sculpture Program

The NOTO Rotating Sculpture Program features new sculptures that are diverse in style and media with the goal of exposing visitors to different types of art and contributing to beautification of the district. Works are generally installed for two-years. Currently there are four locations in the district, with two new installations each year.

Budget

A $2,000 honorarium shall be awarded for each piece for the installation, exhibition and removal of the artwork for a two-year period. NOTO will pay one-fourth upon selection, and the remainder upon successful installation of the Sculpture. All money paid by NOTO shall be refunded to NOTO should the installation not be completed as agreed. The existing concrete pads shall be used for display.

Location

The NOTO Arts & Entertainment District is located in North Topeka, North of Downtown Topeka and across the Kansas River. Sculpture locations include placement in front of the NOTO Arts Center, in Redbud Park, and in the Breezeway Park. . The NOTO Board has sole discretion on site selection for each sculpture.

History

In early 2010, through the Heartland Visioning process, The NOTO Arts & Entertainment District was developed in the city’s old North Topeka Business District, once the site of a bustling train depot and vibrant retail and service center, it served as the impetus for the founding of NOTO. The arts scene is alive and well in the NOTO Arts & Entertainment District, with over 3,000 people visiting every month for the NOTO First Friday Art Walk.

Submit Sculpture


One sculpture submission per application, 5 applications per artist limit – PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT IMAGES OF MORE THAN ONE SCULPTURE PER APPLICATION.
